In early 1990
I began my martial arts training in a self defense course
I took at Drexel University. I instantly fell in love with
the martial arts, as I am a small man and had to defend
myself against bullies on numerous occasions when I was
younger. After I finished this self defense course, I found
my way to the Dragon Gym, and trained in Tae Kwon Do for
4 years, earning a black belt before my studies took me
away from my training in my last semester at Drexel. After
graduation, I got a job in Connecticut, where I was fortunate
enough to find Bushidokai and David LoPriore Shihan. I found
LoPriore Shihan's teachings of Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo to
be unlike any other art I had seen, and studied at his dojo
until late in 1997, when I accepted another job offer back
in Pennsylvania. When I left for Pennsylvania, I couldn't
leave my studies in Kosho Ryu. It had become a part of who
I am. LoPriore Shihan asked me to teach, and I took this
opportunity to continue my training in Kosho Ryu. Thus,
Defensive Arts Plus was born. I think that you will find
this art as fulfilling and fascinating as I do, and invite
you to visit my dojo to see it for yourself.
Please note,
this web site was put together to tell people about Defensive
Arts Plus, my dojo. The official Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo
web site and Hanshi Bruce Juchnik should be considered the
authority on all matters of the art itself.
